Maria T20 gives your wish for clear order a beautiful frame. Solid sides, a sturdy top and a solid base enclose the open compartment. You can use it for spice jars, cups, plates or paperbacks. On the stable top there is room for a green plant or a framed picture.

In the kitchen, the tall version also keeps oil and vinegar bottles within reach. In the bathroom, the narrow shelf holds cosmetics and rolled guest towels. In the hallway or above the desk, it brings order to the wall. With the matching cup hooks, your favourite cups hang underneath.

None of the seven widths fits your niche? As a custom-made piece, we build Maria T20 for example 920 mm wide or in a different height.

Why this wood:

For this shelf we use wide spruce planks, the kind also used as scaffolding boards. It is construction timber, not furniture wood: often bent and uneven in size. We cut the planks to length, split bent pieces, glue them again and plane everything once more. This turns strong construction timber into solid furniture wood.

A tree does not grow for 80 to 300 years only to end up as a throwaway item … because we LOVE WOOD: AMOLIGNO.

We have known wood and wood products for decades. Our surfaces are something very special and not simply paint. You will find details further below. We use only green electricity from 100 % ecological generation. Our packaging is certified, recycled and recyclable.

We plan WITH you and give advice. Even with the smallest item, it matters to us that it suits you and your wishes.

Good design and goods with high practical value are the foundation of what we offer. Because good design is timeless and blends harmoniously into ever-changing trends.

Choice and dimensions:

Choose from the widths, heights or surfaces to find the shelf that suits you. The depth is 20 cm, the wood thickness about 38 mm. Several shelves can be combined side by side or staggered on top of each other.

The sides are screwed to the top and base with decorative wafer-head screws. The screws remain visible and are part of the shelf's look.

How to hang it:

Mounting hardware for solid walls is included. How much the shelf can hold depends on your wall. If you are unsure, ask us.

Good to know:

Construction timber has a history, and it stays visible: cracks, knotholes, colour differences, rust, traces of tools or insects. Edges and angles may deviate slightly from straight, joints may be a little wider. Dimensions vary by a few millimetres depending on the raw material and assembly.

These features are intended; they make your handmade shelf one of a kind. The standards for newly manufactured furniture expressly do not apply here.

Colour samples only approximate the surface. If you are unsure, you can request a colour sample.

Decoration is not included. Some pictures show combinations of several shelves, different dimensions, other surfaces or accessories.

For the dimension drawings: W stands for width, D for depth, H for height, ≈ means approximately. All dimensions are in millimetres and may deviate by a few millimetres. This is due to the properties of the material.

Safety instructions

Use only for the intended purpose. Do not use as a ladder or climbing aid.
Screw the frame together completely before the shelf goes on the wall.
Care: wipe only with a slightly damp cloth. If you use microfibre cloths, use only those suitable for furniture.
Check the wall for suitability: before drilling, make sure there are no electricity, gas or water lines underneath. Choose wall plugs suitable for the wall. Alternative fixing options on request.
Do not let children pull themselves up on the shelf or climb it.
Dispose of as wood via bulky waste or a recycling centre.

Why we do what we do

Our philosophy

With AMOLIGNO we want to show not only our love for wood as a material: individual design and attention to detail should make head, hand and heart perceptible in every product.

Our wood

Typical of our wood: it was sorted out before we touched it. Because it did not meet a standard; because industrial machines cannot process it. Because there was a knot in it, a waney edge on it or a discolouration. It shows traces of previous processing. We do not hide this; it is what gives it character.

Our workshop

This piece was made by hand in our workshop in Hameln. With us, the work adapts to the person, not the person to the work – everyone works at their own pace and on what suits them. That is why every piece has taken the time it needed, and no two are alike.

This also applies to our workshop. We look forward to it soon passing to the non-profit association Amoligno e.V. Besides courses on sustainability, upcycling and proper woodworking, which we want to build up, people for whom usual work structures do not fit are also meant to work here. We do not have to bend ourselves here. Because penguins seem clumsy on land – in the water they are simply magnificent.

Used, untreated

The surface is sanded smooth and aged with a vinegar stain, otherwise without surface treatment.

Used, oiled

Surface finely sanded, aged with vinegar stain, protected with linseed oil

White limed

Surface brushed, painted with white lime paint, sanded, waxed. This treatment makes it more hard-wearing and especially bright; good UV protection.

Antique white limed

Surface aged with vinegar stain, painted with white lime paint, finely sanded, waxed. Beautiful, aged surface with UV protection.

Flamed light

Surface brushed, then flamed. This removes the soft growth rings and gives a firmer surface. Beautiful, rustic look. Without oil / wax. Please protect in damp rooms.

Burnt dark

Surface heavily charred in the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban style. Then brushed and washed. Results in a dark brown, highly textured surface. Very durable. In the kitchen and damp rooms, additional waxing of the surface is recommended.

Surface heavily charred in the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban style. Then brushed and treated with linseed oil. Very hard-wearing. On softwood it results in an almost black, highly textured surface. Very durable. Excellent for kitchens and damp rooms.

A shelf like a picture frame

Sides, top and base form a closed frame. On the stable top there is room for a plant.

Concealed mounting on the back

Two wall brackets on the back hang on hook screws in the wall. Nothing of this can be seen from the front. At the bottom, furniture glides keep the distance, so the shelf hangs straight.

Sizes to suit your needs and your wall

Seven widths from 300 to 1000 mm and two heights. If none of them fits, we build your size as a custom-made piece.

Questions about this product

How much weight does the shelf hold?

That depends on your wall. With even distribution, about 30 kg is realistic in concrete or solid brick. In aerated concrete, perforated brick or drywall you need suitable wall plugs and should put less on it. For difficult walls, a reinforced mounting up to 80 kg is available on request.

What happens after I have ordered?

We build your Maria T20 only after your order, in the selected size and surface. The delivery time is shown at the top of this page. The shelf arrives disassembled, with all screws and the wall mounting in the package.

How do I hang the shelf?

Screw the two wall brackets to the upper corners of the back, turn two hook screws with wall plugs into the wall and hang the shelf on them. Two furniture glides at the bottom keep the distance to the wall. The drawing among the pictures shows where everything goes.
